Krause Family History Our family came down from the northeast
in the late 1800's. At the end of his daily journey, my Krauses have farmed central Iowa for over fifty years. Starting with my great grandfather, J.W. Krause. My grandfather, W.H. Krause, bought the farm that we now consider our "home place" in the early forties. After farming many years with livestock, my dad, J.R. Krause, bought more land, incorporated in 1972, and operated a grain farming operation, primarily involving corn and soybeans. William (Bill) Krause grew up on the farm.
At age 16, he worked construction, full time in summer, and part
time in winter. He graduated from Ballard High School, as president
of student body in 1975. Elizabeth (Diane) Krause, grew up in a small town. At age 16, she worked full time summer, part time winter, in retail clothing sales. She graduated from Ballard High School in 1977, married and began to farm.. She furthered her education and graduated Des Moines Area Community College in 1979, and worked at a Doctors office in Ankeny, Iowa. Bill and Diane have both served their community by:
In 1981, our first child was born. We have since celebrated that event three more times, and truly enjoy the challenge and excitement of raising four of the finest kids in the Heartland. After highlighting our farm on "Voice of the Midwest," WHO Radio, Lee Kline, over 30 year veteran of Farm Broadcasting, said in a letter dated May 8, 1995 -- in part -- "To Bill, Diane and family ... I could not have had a more satisfying visit ... I think you folks represent the best of family farming that is talked about so much." Krause was featured in the January 28, 2000 Edition of Farm News where the article stated,"If thining outside the box is the latest catch phrase in the business world, then Bill Krause is thinking outside of the corn field when it comes to agribusiness." |
